Overview

Is this course
right for you?

Choose this course if you enjoyed a Try Scuba session or already know you want to learn to dive, but do not want to squeeze a full entry-level course into one holiday. You can build a solid foundation in Bangalore and complete the ocean portion when you travel with us.

A good entry-level course should do more than tick off a list of skills. You need enough time to understand why the skills matter, practise them until they feel familiar and ask questions before the sea adds depth, current and unfamiliar surroundings. That is what the Bangalore sessions are for.

We begin with the equipment, pressure and basic dive planning, then work through the essential skills in a pool. The aim is steady control: breathing calmly, looking after your buddy, managing your buoyancy and responding sensibly when something small does not go to plan.

The pool sessions are only one part of the course. Your certification is issued after you complete the required open-water training dives at the ocean. Gotakhor plans those dives on trips to Goa, Netrani or Pondicherry, depending on the batch schedule and conditions. A Scuba Diver qualification allows diving under professional supervision. If your goal is to plan dives with a buddy, we will explain the next step to Open Water Diver.

Your session

How it
unfolds.

A straightforward route from your first question to your first supervised time underwater.

  1. We begin with the knowledge portion and a proper equipment briefing. You will understand what each piece does before you rely on it in the water.
  2. During the Bangalore pool sessions, you practise the core scuba skills, buoyancy control and buddy habits with direct instructor feedback.
  3. Before the trip, we review your progress, confirm paperwork and make sure you know what to expect at the ocean site.
  4. On a Gotakhor trip to Goa, Netrani or Pondicherry, you complete the required open-water training dives. Certification is processed after all course requirements are met.

Questions answered

Still deciding?

Is Scuba Diver the same as Open Water Diver?

No. Scuba Diver is a recognised entry-level qualification that allows you to dive under the supervision of a dive professional. Open Water Diver includes further training and is the usual route for divers who want to plan recreational dives with a buddy. We can explain the exact agency limits and progression route before you enrol.

Can I finish the pool training in Bangalore and do the ocean dives later?

Yes. That is how this course is planned. We complete the knowledge and pool work in Bangalore, then arrange the required ocean training dives during a Gotakhor trip when you are ready.

How many ocean dives will I need to complete?

The required number depends on the certifying agency and the course route selected for your batch. We will show you the full plan, including the ocean dives, before taking your booking.

Do I need my own scuba equipment?

No. Standard equipment is provided for the Bangalore training sessions. As you progress, we can help you understand which personal items are useful to buy first and which items are better rented.

Should I do Try Scuba first?

It is not compulsory. Many people book the course directly. If you are unsure about breathing underwater or simply want to test the experience first, a Try Scuba session is a sensible place to start.

What happens if I need more practice?

That is not a problem. People learn at different speeds. We will discuss what you need, arrange additional practice if appropriate and make sure you are ready before moving to the ocean portion.
